About me

I am blessed to be a wife to a wonderful husband that can fix, build or put together anything. Not only is he the handiest of all men but he is the best dad a kid could ask for! Being a mom to such a sweet and silly toddler has been the biggest blessing and challenge. She teaches me patience and shows me the joy and curiosity in the little things of life. And now we have a beautiful new baby in our life, Reina. She is the perfect addition to our little family.

Viva Mexico!

The first week of November we took a trip to Cabo for  vacation. We talked about the airplane with Lexi about 500 times before the trip so when the actual day came she was soooo excited to finally go since it was her first airplane ride. We went with Sarah, Grant, Lily and Dean. Luckily it is a short flight of just less than 2 hours so just enough time for her to enjoy the plane before losing interest in being trapped in a seat. Everything was great until the descent, she did not like that. Within a few minutes we figured out distracting her with M&M's was the perfect solution, it helped her ears to pop and was a special treat. She loved looking at the safety pamphlet over and over again while asking us what each person was doing.

Grant's dad has a house down in Mexico so we were fortunate to be able to stay there, the absolute best part was it was a true vacation from chores. Nothing is worse than still having to clean, do dishes and laundry while on vacation. Every morning a lady would come and do all of our dishes, make the beds, replace the towels and pick up all of our dirty laundry. By afternoon all of our clean laundry would be nicely folded on our bed. Now that's a vacation!!!!
It worked out perfect because he has a guest house and main house so each family got our own living area which worked out well especially for some much needed alone time for Lily and Lexi. An entire week of a 2 and 3 year old sharing everything requires a little space to decompress. In between the houses is a beautiful pool and within 15 feet of the main house is a secluded beach. It could have not been any more perfect.

Our first morning there, what's better than watching the sunrise with a nice cool breeze. Two lucky little girls!

Our daily routine:
kids wake by 6am
Breakfast by 7am
in the pool by 830am
craft activity by 1030am
lunch
naps
play at the beach
back to the pool
dinner by 545pm
bedtime by 730pm

A little downtime snuggle and kiss

She learned this silly scowl from Lils

Sarah and I knew we could only do the pool/ beach so many times in the day so we both brought different craft activities to help keep the girls occupied. The house is in a EXTREMELY remote location so we had to be self sufficient in the entertainment category because there was not a city to explore or a park to play at. We did a great job at keeping the girls happy and when all else failed or we
needed a break we allowed some movie time. Dora the explorer and Winnie the Pooh did a great job of keeping them happy when we no longer wanted to :)

Painting pictures and magnets was among the most popular activities...

Afternoon TV time

The highlight of their day was waking up to find each other

Dean being snuggled by his sister and cousin while watching Dora.
It was impossible to get a pic of the 3 of them all smiling and looking at the camera at the same time so here is a variety of shots...

Dean LOVED to play/suck on Lexi's water bottle, he was determined to get to it even if that meant climbing over her to find it.

The highlight of Franks night, reading bedtime stories to the girls

We only had one semi tragedy on the trip...
It was unusually wind for the area we were staying at but for some reason we decided to try kayaking with the girls. Grant was to take Lily with him while Frank took Lexi. Once you got past the initial waves on the shore the water was completely flat. Unfortunately the waves did not cooperate fro Frank and Lexi. They managed to get Lexi in the kayak, Frank then climbed in and within 30 seconds the kayak flipped and I am standing on the beach watching my 2 year old swirl in the waves. Within a second they picked her up and she was a basket case from then on. She was screaming crying, "No little boat" over and over again. She was done with that activity!!!
After a few near death/drowning moments for Frank he was able to get Lily in the kayak so Grant could then climb in and they were able to get past the waves and enjoy a nice paddle around the ocean.
That was NOT my favorite part of the trip, nor Lexi's but we all recovered.

We were all so hopeful and excited as we walked to the kayaks...

Immediately after the tumble into the ocean, all parties saved. A very unhappy Lexi and the kayak.

The next day Lily and Lexi got to go fishing with Frank and Grant, they loved it and both caught a few fish in the hour they were out on the water. That was a highlight of the trip for them. Lexi still likes to reenact for us how she reeled the fish in, so funny!

Lexi next to her big catch!

The only night we ventured out of the house was to a little restaurant that the couple who maintains the house owns. The girls enjoyed getting out of the house for the evening and running around the yard.

Finishing their dinner off with a cup of ice cream

Our last night there the guy who maintains the house and his friend came and serenaded us while we ate our dinner. Lily and Lexi loved it!! They danced, sang and ran around the yard like 2 wild kids!!! It was a fun evening and a great way to finish our trip.

Loving the chocolate cake for dessert!!

Sarah and I dancing with our little girls

Here is one video from the night, I told Lils if she did a booty dance for us she would get a piece of chocolate cake. It worked! We were dying laughing.

We had a wonderful vacation and look forward to going back every few years. Lily and Lexi were inseparable and both of them had withdrawals after spending 5 straight days together. They are too cute to watch play and copy everything the other does.
